Alternative Fertility Treatment – Acupuncture
Not much new going on today. Mike and I are going to a class tonight on Fertility Foods at the clinic that I get acupuncture from. I am anxious to see what they have to say. I really wish that I had begun the acupuncture when we began this whole fertility process, but hey, better late than never.
Just to catch you up to speed on my acupuncture treatment: I began getting acupuncture treatments once a week in late January after our 1st failed attempt at IVF. I am not the “holistic” type and really never thought that I would ever seek “alternative” types of treatment. I found out that my doctor’s office and many other fertility clinics support acupuncture during fertility treatments. After a failed round of IVF, you will do anything that you can to help prepare yourself and your body. I had been getting treatments just once a week and then at the end of February I began getting treatments twice a week because I am getting closer to my transfer date. The acupuncture treatments are intended to balance out my body and increase blood flow to the reproductive organs. I must say that is it really relaxing during the acupuncture treatments and I truly believe that it helps to settle my mind while I am there. I must mention that many acupuncture facilities will offer herbal supplements – my doctor does not condone taking any herbal supplements. Throughout my treatment process, I have only been taking a prenatal and Omega 3.
